Use the correct printer profile when one exists, disable duplicate color management and judge proofs under consistent light. Home printers vary, so a controlled repeatable setup matters more than chasing a theoretically perfect screen match.

Include dark, neutral and saturated photographs in the proof. Shadow detail is often the first thing lost on uncoated stock.

Prove duplex orientation and scale

Run Kumizine’s duplex test sheet before the artwork. Select long-edge or short-edge flipping from observed output rather than the printer driver’s ambiguous language.

Print at actual size or 100%, not fit-to-page. If the printer cannot print borderless, preserve intentional margins or trim from a larger sheet instead of allowing automatic scaling.

Inspect before binding

Fan through every side for missing pages, upside-down backs, banding, blocked shadows and feed marks. Assemble one complete copy and confirm that reader order matches the intended sequence.

Let ink dry fully before folding. Score heavier stock, fold with the grain, then trim and bind using the physical dummy as the reference.
